Dehradun, March 30 (NationPress) The IAS Association has voiced its strong dissatisfaction and indignation regarding former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat's inflammatory remarks about a Dalit IAS officer.

Rawat's statement, which seemed to liken the officer to a 'dog', has ignited widespread demonstrations, prompting the IAS Association to issue a direct challenge to his comments.

During an urgent meeting held on Sunday, the Association asserted that it would not back down on matters concerning self-respect and dignity. The members declared their intention to file a formal complaint with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami about Rawat's offensive remarks.

This incident arose after Rawat made a statement in Parliament regarding mining issues in Uttarakhand. Subsequently, Mining Secretary Brijesh Sant released a report refuting the allegations made by Rawat.

In reaction to Sant’s comments, Rawat sarcastically noted, 'A lion never hunts dogs', which was widely interpreted as an insulting and derogatory remark aimed at the Dalit officer.

This comment has led to a surge of protests across the state, with Dalit organizations taking to the streets to denounce Rawat's statements.

The IAS Association, in particular, has resolved to confront the matter directly, gearing up for a decisive response.

The Association condemned Rawat's remarks as an insult to the dignity and self-worth of its members.

In a meeting chaired by Association President Anand Bardhan at the Secretariat, members reiterated that every IAS officer, like any other individual, deserves respect and dignity.

They highlighted that such comments not only degrade individuals but also demoralize officers, negatively impacting their performance and efficiency in public service.

The Association emphasized that IAS officers, as public servants, are tasked with implementing the policies of elected governments within the constitutional framework, maintaining neutrality while ensuring the stability and continuity of the administration.

Members acknowledged that constructive criticism is welcome; however, such disparaging remarks undermine officer morale and weaken bureaucratic functioning.

The IAS Association also made it clear that they expect all individuals and organizations, including political leaders, to avoid making statements that undermine the dignity of their members and their families.

They reaffirmed their commitment to uphold principles of self-respect, neutrality, and professionalism within the administration.

The Association has asserted that it will continue to advocate for the dignity and rights of its members and will seek a proper resolution through appropriate channels.
