Individual Arrested for Shooting Friend's Father in Gurugram

Gurugram, Jan 11 (NationPress) A team from the crime branch of the Gurugram Police has taken into custody an individual who is accused of shooting and injuring his friend's father within the confines of the victim's home after receiving a reprimand, according to police reports released on Saturday.

The suspect, Tanmay Bhardwaj, was apprehended in Gurugram on Friday and has since been placed under police remand for further questioning.

As per the police, the accused, Tanmay from Gurgaon Gaon (village), carried out the act after the victim, Sandeep Kataria, who also resides in the same village, admonished him against visiting his home. This confrontation led to a grudge, culminating in Tanmay shooting Sandeep in the stomach and fleeing the scene on Tuesday morning (January 7).

Following the incident, the Gurugram Sector-5 police station was informed of a shooting that had occurred in Gurgaon Gaon early Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, the police found that the injured party had already been transported to a private hospital for medical attention.

Sandeep was employed by a private firm. The victim’s spouse informed the police that Tanmay, who resides nearby, was friends with her husband’s son and nephew, frequently visiting their home and reportedly being a negative influence.

“About a week prior, he arrived at our house inebriated. My husband reprimanded him, forbidding further visits, which led to a personal feud. On Tuesday at approximately 3:20 a.m., Tanmay entered our home, shot Sandeep, and subsequently escaped,” the victim’s wife recounted to the police.

Inspector Sukhbir, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Sector-5 police station, confirmed that a case has been filed against the accused under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

“The suspect had a history of drug addiction. The victim’s admonishments regarding his harmful habits and the prohibition on visiting our home to see his son ignited the hostility that fueled this act,” added the SHO.
