Intense Dispute Erupts Between MLA and SDM During Public Forum in MP

Bhopal, Dec 7 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Surendra Singh Gaharwar and a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) found themselves in a heated dispute during a public forum held in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district on Saturday.
The contentious exchange, which has since gone viral on social media, occurred at a public hearing in the Majhigavan tehsil located within the Chitrkoot Assembly constituency of Satna district.
In the circulating video, MLA Gaharwar is seen addressing the challenges faced by farmers. He criticized the revenue officers for their frequent absences and lack of visits to the villages, which he stated leads to significant issues for the farming community.
"I have previously raised this concern with the district collector and the relevant minister in the state government. However, the revenue officers have shown no improvement in their conduct. I demand to know why the SDM is not taking action against Patwaris," the MLA stated.
He further accused SDM Jitendra Verma of shielding the revenue officers, a claim that Verma vehemently denied, responding, "You are making unfounded accusations against me. All revenue officers are actively visiting the villages."
Gaharwar then pressed on, questioning, "What actions have you taken? Did you not receive a call from the minister and district collector? Yet, you did nothing," he stated emphatically while gesturing towards Verma.
Verma retorted, "If you wish for me to be transferred, you are welcome to try whatever you like."
In response, MLA Gaharwar declared, "While I may not have the power to transfer you, I will lodge a complaint against you at a higher level, and you will see the consequences shortly."
The altercation between the MLA and SDM concluded after intervention from other officials who managed to deescalate the situation. Notably, the public hearing is part of the state government's initiative to address the concerns of local residents.
