Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Condemns 'Jungle Raj' in Andhra Pradesh

Key Takeaways
Amaravati, March 26 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy made serious allegations on Thursday, claiming the state has devolved into a 'Jungle Raj'. He stated that the police force appears to exist solely on paper, disappearing when tribals, women, and the economically disadvantaged seek assistance.
"Emergency response lines are silent, predators roam freely, and innocent lives are tragically lost while those in authority prioritize corruption, political maneuvering, and public relations stunts over the safety of the populace," Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed via his social media account on platform X.
The former Chief Minister highlighted a distressing case involving a 17-year-old tribal girl, who tragically became yet another victim of the failing system in the state.
"This girl was taken from her home under the guise of providing education and care. On March 22, a civil engineer contacted her family in Hiramandalam, Srikakulam district, assuring them of tuition support. However, on March 23, she was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual assaults in Visakhapatnam, revealing both systemic brutality and failure. By March 24, her lifeless body was returned to her parents," Jagan Mohan Reddy stated.
Reports indicated that the girl's family faced pressure for a quick and quiet cremation, raising significant concerns about a potential cover-up.
"Under duress, a post-mortem examination was conducted at the Srikakulam Government General Hospital. The police showed little urgency and only acted after a formal complaint was lodged. As of now, there has been no action or arrests," he added.
Additionally, Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed to a bus fire incident that occurred on Thursday morning in Markapuram, which he claimed further emphasized the government's collapse in Andhra Pradesh.
"Calls made to the police emergency helpline '100' went unanswered, and calls to '108' were disregarded until the bus was completely engulfed in flames. Survivors reported that their pleas for help went unheard. Due to the lack of timely intervention, 14 lives were lost. Institutions that should provide assistance have failed to respond," he remarked.
Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized the current state government led by Chandrababu Naidu, claiming that apart from public relations campaigns, there is a complete absence of governance.
"Under the 'Red Book' governance model, the police operate as mere puppets, leaving citizens vulnerable and suffering. This is the grim reality in the state," he concluded.
