Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Amaravati, Feb 20 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and President of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, on Friday encouraged party members and supporters not to fear the so-called false cases lodged against them.
This statement was made during a meeting with party leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu, who had just been released on bail, in what the party labeled as an unlawful case.
The YSRCP reported that Rambabu informed Y.S. Jagan about the legal troubles he faced, including the vandalism of his home by TDP supporters, a life-threatening attack, police negligence, and alleged excessive actions by some officials.
Jagan reassured Rambabu that there was no need to be distressed over these false claims and that they would be contested in court.
He strongly condemned the actions of certain police officials, whom he accused of siding with the ruling TDP, and stressed that the challenges and harassment encountered while advocating for the public's rights should be met with determination.
He urged party leaders and members to remain steadfast and continue supporting the community.
Present during the meeting were MP Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, former MP Nandigam Suresh, former MLA Malladi Vishnu, and NTR District YSRCP President Devineni Avinash.
Former minister Rambabu was granted bail from Rajahmundry Central Prison on Wednesday evening after a court in Guntur approved his release in connection with an alleged illegal lottery case filed against him in Sattenapalli in 2023.
He had completed a 17-day remand period related to this case, along with another regarding alleged derogatory comments aimed at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and for obstructing police duties during a protest in Guntur on January 31.
His arrest occurred amid a tense atmosphere at his residence following an alleged attack by TDP supporters.
On Thursday, Rajahmundry police issued a notice preventing him from leading a large procession from Rajahmundry to Guntur.
A significant crowd gathered when the former minister attempted to proceed to Guntur, but police halted his convoy, citing the enforcement of Section 30. He was served a notice denying him permission to lead a procession.
