Amaravati, July 20 (NationPress) — The Guntur district police in Andhra Pradesh have officially notified Ambati Rambabu, a senior leader and former minister of the YSR Congress Party, regarding a case that was filed against him last month. This case pertains to his alleged breach of police directives during the visit of party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to the Palnadu district.
The Sattenapalli Rural Police have instructed him to report for questioning on July 21.
He is accused of defying prohibitory orders and hindering police operations during Jagan's visit to Rentapalla on June 18.
Previously, cases had been filed against Rambabu and others at Nallapadu, Old Guntur, and Sattenapalli Urban police stations under various sections of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita.
In this recent turn of events, the Sattenpalli Rural Police Station has also registered a case against Rambabu and summoned him.
According to the authorities, Ambati, alongside his brother Murali, purportedly breached barricades at Korrapadu, engaged in confrontations with police, and even physically assaulted officers on duty.
Police had imposed specific restrictions during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Rentapalla, where he expressed condolences to the family of YSRCP worker Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who tragically took his life due to alleged mistreatment by police and TDP leaders.
Jagan’s visit transformed into a massive demonstration of strength for the opposition party, as thousands of party supporters joined his convoy.
Tragically, two individuals lost their lives during the former chief minister’s visit. A 53-year-old man reportedly died after being struck by Jagan’s vehicle in Guntur, while another collapsed while awaiting his arrival in Sattenapalli and later passed away in a hospital.
Leaders from the YSRCP have been accused of breaching the conditions set by police for Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit.
