Will Jagan's Call for CBI Probe Into House Demolitions in Vijayawada Bring Justice?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Vijayawada, Dec 16 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday called for a CBI investigation into the demolitions occurring in the Joji Nagar region of Vijayawada. He emphasized that these houses were destroyed under heavy police supervision, even though the matter is still pending in the Supreme Court and residents have been granted relief until December 31.
Jagan accused the previous administration led by Chandrababu Naidu of fabricating documents during his tenure, alleging that a fictitious society was registered retroactively in 2016 and that legal disputes were intentionally created to transfer prime land to private entities.
After meeting with the impacted residents, Jagan expressed his solidarity with the families affected and promised them comprehensive legal assistance. He asserted that those responsible for the unlawful demolitions would face justice, insisting that only a CBI inquiry could unveil the truth behind the events.
He specifically named Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, the local MP, and a Jana Sena corporator, holding them accountable for the destruction of homes belonging to 42 families on 2.17 acres of land valued at Rs 150 crore. He highlighted that the residents had secured all necessary approvals and were consistently repaying loans, yet their homes were demolished due to the avarice of powerful individuals colluding with private interests.
Jagan questioned the legitimacy of the permissions granted to residents if they allegedly did not own the land, labeling it a severe misuse of authority. He reiterated that these families had been living lawfully for over 25 years and condemned the demolition as a blatant violation of judicial relief.
He further alleged that the act of encroaching on land through manufactured litigation has become a systematic approach across the state, with TDP leaders actively seeking out disputed properties, fabricating legal conflicts, and seizing valuable assets.
Jagan assured the residents of Joji Nagar that once the YSRCP returns to power, this issue will be addressed and all individuals involved in the demolition will be held accountable.
