Amaravati, June 17 (NationPress) YSR Congress Party President and former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to visit Palnadu district on June 18 to offer condolences to the family of a party member who tragically took his own life due to alleged police harassment.

In spite of police-imposed restrictions, Jagan Mohan Reddy will proceed with his journey to Rentapalla in Palnadu district to comfort the relatives of YSRCP leader and deputy sarpanch Nagamalleswara Rao.

YSRCP representatives indicated that Jagan will make the trip by road from his residence in Tadepalli, Amaravati, to Rentapalla. After expressing his condolences to the family, Jagan will unveil a statue in honor of Nagamalleswara Rao.

The opposition party has accused the TDP-led coalition government of attempting to obstruct their leader’s visit. They affirmed that the former chief minister will continue with his plans.

The YSRCP has criticized the police for their lack of cooperation in granting permission for Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Rentapalla.

After a meeting with the Superintendent of Police in Palnadu on Tuesday, former minister Vidadala Rajini, along with former MLAs Kasu Mahesh Reddy and Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy, and Sattenapalli YSRCP coordinator Gajjala Sudheer Bhargav Reddy, stated that the government is misusing police authority to hinder Jagan’s visit under the guise of security concerns.

The leaders disclosed that police were bizarrely permitting only 100 individuals to accompany Jagan, citing security. Nonetheless, they stressed that YS Jagan would not be deterred, asserting that the convoy would reach the grieving family’s home without any obstruction. They emphasized that once YS Jagan commits, he doesn’t retreat, and he will meet the family even if he has to go alone.

They also pointed out that the party cannot prevent people from coming, as Jagan is always in solidarity with the public. "The police have been harassing him in numerous ways to hinder his visit, as the coalition government is conspiring to sabotage it, but he will be in Rentapalla of Sattenapalli mandal," they stated.

They alleged that the coalition government is intimidated by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rising popularity.

The police in Palnadu have enforced restrictions on Jagan's visit due to incidents of stone-pelting during his recent trip to Prakasam district. Jagan had accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of intentionally inciting people against his visit to Podili in Prakasam district.

He had gone to Podili to support distressed tobacco farmers who have been denied fair prices.

"More than 40,000 farmers and locals joined me in solidarity. To distract from the real issue, Chandrababu Naidu orchestrated efforts to send about 40 TDP workers to disrupt the meeting and incite violence by throwing stones along our route. Thankfully, the farmers and public demonstrated remarkable restraint and did not retaliate against the severe attacks by TDP supporters,” Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed on the social media platform ‘X’.
