Jammu, March 12 (NationPress) During the Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, several public issues were raised by various Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), highlighting urgent matters impacting citizens across different constituencies.
MLA Gulabgarh, Er Khursheed Ahmad, emphasized the necessity for improved medical facilities for those injured in a recent devastating road accident in the Reasi district that claimed four lives.
He called on the government to guarantee that the injured patients at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Jammu, and the District Health Department, Reasi, receive adequate treatment.
MLA Poonch Haveli, Aijaz Ahmad Jan, requested the Speaker's intervention regarding the case of a missing young man, Yawar Rashid, who vanished after traveling to Jammu for an examination. He urged authorities to promptly locate the youth.
MLAs from the Kashmir region, including Salam Sagar, Irfan Rasool Kar, Mushtaq Ahmad Guru, and Ehsan Pardesi, pointed out the sluggish progress in streetlight installation by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other municipal bodies.
They stressed the urgency of hastening this initiative, particularly during the ongoing holy month of Ramadhan, to offer necessary relief to residents. Similarly, MLA Shangus Riyaz Ahmad Khan noted that the installation of smart meters in his constituency led to the disconnection of previously installed streetlights.
He urged the authorities to restore these streetlights to prevent public inconvenience. Addressing essential public services, MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju, advocated for an increase in the number of ration depots in his constituency, citing challenges faced by the residents of 10 hilly panchayats who currently depend on only two ration depots.
MLA Banihal, Sajad Shaheen, raised concerns about the vacant Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) position in Banihal, which has been causing significant difficulties for the local population. He urged the government to promptly appoint someone to this essential role to ensure smooth administration in the area.
