Ranchi, April 14 (NationPress) The 13th convention of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) commenced on Monday at the Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Khelgaon, Ranchi. This two-day gathering, overseen by party founder and president Shibu Soren, stands as one of the largest organizational assemblies in the party's five-decade legacy.

During his address, Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized that the JMM, originating from a mass mobilization, has now firmly established its presence across Jharkhand.

“The party has extended its roots to every household in the state. It is our duty to foster this heritage and persist in our efforts to uplift our communities,” he stated.

Soren urged for renewed initiatives aimed at enhancing the living standards within the state. “We must labor tirelessly to better the lives of Jharkhand's impoverished, tribal, Dalit, and marginalized populations,” he asserted.

More than 4,000 party delegates from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Bengal, and various other states are participating in this convention, which is anticipated to initiate significant reforms in the party's organizational framework and political strategy.

The convention commenced with tributes to the architect of the Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, followed by the hoisting of the party flag. In his speech, Soren launched a pointed criticism of the BJP, accusing it of sidelining tribal and farming communities.

“Since the inception of Jharkhand, power was entrusted to individuals disconnected from its tribal and native populace. Their policies, detrimental to the people, have marginalized farmers and tribes. However, in 2019, the citizens dismantled the double-engine government and endorsed the Grand Alliance,” he remarked.

Soren remarked that despite persistent challenges from the opposition aimed at undermining the coalition government, the ‘Abua Sarkar’ (our government) remains resolute. “We have never yielded. We are dedicated to governance that prioritizes the people,” he affirmed.

Reflecting on the party’s evolution, Soren stated, “The seed sown by Dishom Guru Shibu Soren has flourished into a robust tree. With the blessings of the people and the unwavering commitment of our party members, we have triumphed over the so-called largest party in the world and emerged as the most formidable political entity in the state.”

Notable leaders present at the event included Roopi Soren (mother of Hemant Soren), MLA Kalpana Soren, General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya, MP Mahua Maji, ministers Hafizul Hasan Ansari, Vijay Hansda, Yogendra Prasad, Chamra Linda, and all party MLAs.

Earlier that day, CM Soren laid the groundwork for an impressive Ram Janki temple—inspired by the Ayodhya Ram Mandir—at the historic Tapovan temple complex in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur. He performed Shila Pujan with Vedic rituals and joined devotees in chanting “Jai Shri Ram.”
