Agra, March 26 (NationPress) Hundreds of Karni Sena activists launched an attack on the residence of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman on Wednesday, causing chaos and resulting in clashes with police personnel, leading to multiple injuries.
Reports indicate that several officers sustained injuries as the unruly mob became violent, hurling stones at the law enforcement officials who had been stationed outside the MP’s residence in Agra since early morning.
The tumult outside Ramji Lal Suman’s residence escalated around noon, as numerous Karni Sena activists breached the barricades in an attempt to access his home.
When police attempted to halt their progress, confrontations erupted. The crowd became increasingly aggressive when confronted by law enforcement, engaging in stone-pelting and vandalism. They threw chairs and damaged parked vehicles, shattering car windshields with rods and even destroying police barricades.
In response, police used baton charges to disperse the crowd and detained many individuals.
This confrontation between police and Karni Sena follows controversial remarks made by SP MP regarding Rana Sanga.
Recently, Ramji Lal Suman garnered attention and criticism for stating in Lok Sabha that Rana Sanga, a renowned Rajput warrior, had ‘invited’ the Mughal invader Babur into India.
These comments angered the Rajput community, which threatened nationwide protests if SP MP did not retract his statements and apologize.
The Akhilesh-led SP has labeled the incident as a BJP-instigated attack, claiming that the ruling party was behind the vandalistic actions outside their MP's residence.
The BJP dismissed these accusations, asserting that SP routinely disparages India's heroic figures.
“This protest highlights the growing discontent among youth against the demonization of India’s national icons,” stated a BJP spokesperson.
