Kejriwal Promises Cancellation of Overcharged Water Bills; Claims Covert Agreement Between BJP and Congress

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convenor of AAP and former Chief Minister of Delhi, announced on Saturday his commitment to cancel inflated water bills, while accusing the BJP and Congress of a covert collaboration as the Assembly elections approach.
During a press conference, Kejriwal urged both parties to disclose their political partnership instead of working together in secrecy.
Detailing his party’s pledge to abolish inflated water bills once in power, Kejriwal stated, “During my incarceration, there were manipulations leading to water consumers receiving exorbitant bills. Some individuals were charged thousands and even lakhs of rupees.”
“My message to all consumers is – if you believe your water bill is unwarranted and inflated, you are not obligated to pay it. Once we assume power, we will annul those bills,” he added.
He noted that approximately 1.2 million water consumers receive zero bills monthly due to the AAP government's initiative providing 20,000 liters of free water.
When questioned about the funding and specifics regarding the bill waiver announced, Kejriwal replied, “You need not worry; we will provide the details after we come to power.”
“I assure everyone. The AAP stands with you, and you need not be concerned,” he affirmed.
Addressing queries about a protest by Punjab Congress women regarding unmet promises, he remarked, “The women of Punjab are with us.”
The AAP leader also declined to comment on the Congress's strategy to portray him as 'anti-national'. “Let them proceed with what they wish,” he stated.
Describing the Congress as a spent force, Kejriwal noted, “Voters have ceased to take the Congress seriously; I’m uncertain why some media personnel continue to afford them significance.”
In his critique of the BJP for their attacks on AAP, Kejriwal stated that the saffron party aims to “secure victory in the upcoming election solely through disparagement of us.”
“On one side, we are informing voters of our accomplishments over the past decade, while the BJP has nothing to present as achievements in the same timeframe,” he criticized, calling out the BJP for lacking a Chief Ministerial candidate, vision, or strategy for the city, relying merely on assaults against AAP.
Kejriwal launched a fierce counterattack against the BJP following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks labeling AAP governance as 'Aapada (disaster)' in the city. Kejriwal responded on Friday, stating that the BJP itself has three 'Aapadas' as it lacks a Chief Ministerial face, issue, or narrative for the upcoming Assembly elections.
