Tumakuru, Feb 24 (NationPress) Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has accused the state BJP of leveraging the police station attack incident in Mysuru city as a political instrument.

During a press interaction in Tumakuru at the District Panchayat hall for the Tumakuru District KDP progress review meeting on Monday, he asserted that the police have taken appropriate measures regarding the confrontation that occurred at the Udayagiri police station in Mysuru.

Parameshwara elaborated that all individuals accountable for the Udayagiri police station attack in Mysuru have been apprehended, and the investigation is ongoing. “The BJP is exploiting this incident as a political tool by spreading unfounded allegations,” he remarked.

The BJP had made a request to the police for permission to hold a protest in Mysuru on Monday concerning the police station attack incident. However, the police denied the request, prompting them to approach the High Court. "We must await the court's decision," he mentioned.

He emphasized that instead of politicizing the Mysuru confrontation, it would be prudent to allow legal proceedings against those responsible. "Engaging in politics over such incidents will not yield positive outcomes," he cautioned.

On the topic of narcotics found in Mangaluru jail, he stated that officials have been directed to carry out a comprehensive investigation.

"The investigation will reveal who supplied the drugs and how they were smuggled into the facility. When illegal activities are uncovered, legal actions are initiated promptly. A new jail building is being constructed in Mangaluru, and once it’s finished, inmates will be relocated," he added.

When discussing language-based conflicts along the Karnataka-Maharashtra border, he urged the residents of Maharashtra to proceed with caution. "Such events should not be allowed to escalate. We take action whenever similar cases occur on our side. It is inappropriate for Maharashtra residents to act unlawfully," he warned.

Regarding his potential resignation from the ministerial role, he clarified that his remarks were based on discussions with party members in Koratagere. "There’s no need to assign excessive importance or create unnecessary speculation. My political fate lies in the hands of the people of Koratagere, who elected me. I expressed my views in line with their expectations," he explained.

When queried about his aspirations to become Chief Minister, he replied, "I prefer not to discuss this matter. Issues related to the Chief Minister and KPCC President are not openly debated. Within our party, we communicate our views to the High Command. The party president and the Chief Minister make these decisions, and we all adhere to this process," he concluded.
