Hyderabad, Aug 3 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and a former minister in Telangana, issued a warning to the public, stating that voting for the ruling Congress party in the upcoming by-elections could lead to the termination of even current welfare schemes. He criticized the Congress party's 20-month governance in Telangana, labeling it as incompetent, disordered, and deeply corrupt.
Rama Rao spoke to party members from the Jubilee Hills constituency, a seat that became available due to the recent passing of MLA Maganti Gopinath.
Popularly known as KTR, he urged citizens to hold the Congress accountable for deceiving all segments of Telangana society with false promises and misleading statements.
KTR accused leading Congress figures such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge of misleading the electorate with untrue claims during their election campaign.
“Congress leaders, including Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, have not delivered on their promises and have instead betrayed the populace,” KTR stated, adding: “This dishonest government must be made to understand its position.”
He cautioned that a vote for Congress in the by-elections could result in the discontinuation of existing welfare programs. He reminded attendees that numerous welfare initiatives have already been halted since the Congress assumed power.
“The Congress believes that citizens have accepted their scams and corrupt practices, which has led them to suspend developmental projects,” he claimed.
He also accused both the BJP and Congress of colluding in the political landscape of Telangana.
“The BJP-led Central government is protecting Revanth Reddy's corrupt practices, which is why the Prime Minister has not initiated any legal action against him,” KTR asserted. He alleged that the primary goal of these two parties is to undermine the Telangana-based BRS.
Expressing anger over the demolition of homes belonging to the poor in Hyderabad, KTR remarked, “When a poor individual constructs a modest shelter on government land, it faces ruthless demolition. Yet, the government ignores the illegal constructions of the affluent.”
He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, his brother, ministers, and Congress leaders of constructing residences near lakes and tanks without facing repercussions, while the homes of the less fortunate are bulldozed on weekends without prior notice.
KTR expressed sorrow over the suicide of an elderly woman in Kukatpally due to the fear of losing her home.
He emphasized that under the BRS administration, Hyderabad has evolved into a top metropolitan city. “Through G.O. 58, we provided legal ownership to over 100,000 impoverished families and safeguarded their livelihoods. Furthermore, we launched welfare programs like Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi to support girls’ marriages,” he stated.
KTR asserted that former Chief Minister KCR avoided engaging in religious politics, resulting in no Hindu-Muslim or Andhra-Telangana conflicts during BRS governance.
During the gathering, KTR paid homage to the late Maganti Gopinath, urging the party to approach the by-election, caused by his untimely death, with seriousness. He called on party members to work diligently for victory. “Let us once again raise the pink flag in Jubilee Hills as a tribute to Gopinath garu,” he encouraged the party workers.
He instructed each worker to take responsibility for at least 100 votes or 25 households, educating the public on the differences between KCR’s administration and the current Congress government.
