Mayawati Criticizes SP and Congress for Exploiting Muslim Vote Dynamics in Sambhal

Lucknow, Dec 7 (NationPress) The National President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mayawati, has charged the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress with manipulating communal strife for electoral advantage in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.

During a press conference in Lucknow on Saturday, she alleged that both parties are fostering divisions within the Muslim community in Sambhal to gain votes.

Mayawati asserted that the SP and Congress prioritize Muslim votes above other crucial matters. "These two parties are creating rifts between Turks and non-Turks within the Muslim community in Sambhal. Muslims need to be wary of these tactics," she stated.

She also criticized the Congress for its 'indifference' to the suffering of Hindus in neighboring Bangladesh, where numerous individuals have fallen prey to violence.

"The Congress has been mute regarding the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh but is now vocally addressing issues in Sambhal purely to attract Muslim votes. This indicates that Congress and SP are essentially two facets of the same entity," she commented.

Mayawati expressed her discontent regarding the silence of Dalit MPs on matters affecting their community. She accused them of valuing party allegiance over the welfare of Dalits, whether in India or Bangladesh.

She referenced historical injustices endured by Dalits during the Partition of India. She claimed that the Jessore-Khulna area in Bangladesh, which was predominantly Hindu, was transferred to Pakistan during Partition as a calculated move by the Congress. This, she noted, represented an act of casteist politics designed to penalize Dalits for supporting Dr B.R. Ambedkar in the Constituent Assembly.

Mayawati highlighted that Dalits and marginalized groups, who constitute the majority of oppressed Hindus in Bangladesh, continue to suffer, while Congress remains indifferent. "It was due to these conspiracies that Dr Ambedkar resigned and returned to India. Today, Congress is making noise about Sambhal, but only to cater to Muslim voters, neglecting broader issues," she asserted.

The unrest in Sambhal erupted on November 24 when a team arrived at the Shahi Jama Masjid to assess a site that the Hindu faction claims to be a Hari Har temple. The violence resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals.
