New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has launched a forceful critique against the Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing it of manipulating Dalits for its own political advantage.
In a series of statements on X on Thursday, the BSP leader claimed that the SP, similar to other political entities, is inciting discord and violence by using Dalits as tools for their agenda.
She expressed on X in Hindi (loosely translated as), "It is evident that, like other parties, SP is also fostering an atmosphere of conflict and violence by promoting individuals within the party, particularly Dalits, and its controversial remarks, accusations, and counter-accusations illustrate their politics driven by extreme self-interest."
Mayawati advised Dalits, OBCs, and Muslims to be wary of the SP's political strategies, warning that the party would go to great lengths to secure Dalit votes.
"Because SP is prepared to do anything for Dalit votes. Therefore, along with Dalits, the Other Backward Classes and the Muslim community should remain unaffected by their aggressive provocations and not succumb to the political maneuvers of this party," she wrote on X.
The former four-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh criticized Akhilesh Yadav's party following its attempts to rally support among Backward Classes, Dalits, and minorities in the state.
Disguised under its recent PDA campaign, the SP has been targeting these demographic segments to strengthen its position in the state against the BJP.
This was evident in the lengthy post by the Samajwadi Party chief on X to commemorate the birth anniversary of Ambedkar.
Akhilesh Yadav stated that only the solidarity of PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak or Backwards, Dalits and minorities) can preserve the Constitution and reservation rights.
He wrote in Hindi (loosely translated as), "Let us enhance our sense of 'self-respect' and unite to establish the 'rule of social justice' and empower the PDA movement to safeguard Baba Saheb's legacy of 'Constitution and Reservation' while reaffirming that 'the Constitution is the essence of life' and 'the Constitution is our shield' and that as long as the Constitution remains intact, our dignity, respect, self-esteem, and rights will be secure."
"Under 'self-respect', we have recognized the significance of our 'unity of self' alongside our amicable, socialist, secular, democratic principles and values, as well as the transformative power of this unity in the form of PDA. Only through 'self-respect' can the PDA community gain decisive power, free itself from oppression and suffering, live with dignity, and provide a constitutional response to the oppressive, dominant, and power-hungry negative forces. Only the unity of PDA will safeguard the Constitution and reservation; only the unity of PDA will create a brighter future. Let us transform our struggle for 'self-respect and dignity' into a celebration," the SP chief concluded in his post.
