Gurugram, April 9 (NationPress) In a significant move against 33 vehicle owners and drivers, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has suggested 29 FIRs and levied a fine of ₹54 lakh for the illegal disposal of garbage and debris in public areas.
Balpreet Singh, Additional Commissioner of MCG, stated that the Sanitation Security Force (SSF) is actively monitoring the situation around the clock, seven days a week.
He mentioned that the team has proposed 29 FIRs in various police stations concerning illegal dumping.
“A fine of ₹54 lakh has also been charged against violators across different locations for illegal dumping and for using banned plastics,” he added.
The MCG established the SSF to address the increasing challenges related to waste management and cleanliness in the district.
In addition to filing FIRs under multiple sections, the SSF also ensures the confiscation of vehicles involved in disrupting the cleanliness initiatives in the city.
Singh noted that a major plastic manufacturing facility was raided by the SSF, resulting in the seizure of 7300 kg of banned plastic and a fine of ₹7 lakh was also imposed.
“This is regarded as the first major raid in the history of MCG. To commend the team’s exceptional work, they received a letter of appreciation to boost their morale. They have been encouraged to continue their efforts without fear or pressure,” Singh explained.
During monitoring, the SSF apprehended a canter truck for illegal debris dumping in Udyog Vihar Phase-1, leading to a fine of ₹50,000.
“All residents should assist in keeping the city clean and report any such activities to the MCG. The SSF is consistently monitoring various regions, taking action against those found guilty. Furthermore, the government has prohibited the manufacture, storage, sale, and use of single-use plastics due to the health and environmental risks they pose,” Singh emphasized.
He also urged the people of Gurugram to join efforts in making the city cleaner and more beautiful.
“Do not hand over your waste or debris to individuals who dispose of it irresponsibly. If debris results from construction or demolition at your location, please contact the mobile helpline number 9015339966 or the WhatsApp helpline number 8368356611 for proper disposal,” he advised.
