Gurugram Municipal Corporation Establishes 'Sanitation Security Force' to Address Waste Management Concerns

Gurugram, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has initiated a specialized Sanitation Security Force (SSF) aimed at overseeing the escalating challenges related to waste management and urban cleanliness.
Following its establishment, the force has promptly taken action by seizing 6 vehicles while surveilling various locations in just one day, as reported by an official on Friday.
Additional Commissioner of MCG, Balpreet Singh, indicated that efforts to monitor and penalize individuals discarding garbage and debris throughout the city have been intensified.
"The force has confiscated 6 vehicles in Laser Valley Sector-29, Fountain Chowk, Khandsa Road Sector-37, Devi Lal Colony, Jawahar Nagar, and Kataria Chowk during surveillance on Thursday-Friday night," he stated.
He also mentioned that some of the seized vehicles were unregistered, prompting the initiation of legal procedures against them.
In addition, several vehicles were discovered misusing the MCG's name to illegally dispose of waste.
"All confiscated vehicles have been secured, and FIRs have been filed against their respective owners or drivers at the relevant police stations," he added.
"We urge the residents of Gurugram to report any instances of illegal garbage or debris dumping to the MCG, allowing the SSF to take timely action. We also request vigilance regarding vehicles misrepresenting MCG's authority. Community cooperation is key to maintaining a clean city," he articulated.
Simultaneously, the civic authority is installing CCTV cameras at all secondary waste collection points within the MCG jurisdiction.
This initiative has seen cameras installed at 8 locations, with work on the remaining 6 expected to be finalized this month. Ultimately, all 14 secondary waste collection points managed by the corporation will be under camera surveillance.
The CCTV cameras have been positioned at Atul Kataria Chowk, Sheetla Mata Mandir, Roshanpura Sabzi Mandi, Beriwala Bagh, Chakarpur, Bandhwadi Khandsa, and Court Parking. Additionally, installations at secondary garbage collection points in areas such as Badshahpur, Fazilpur, Sikandarpur, Chauma, Carterpuri, and Dhanwapur are set to be completed by the end of December.
The Additional Municipal Commissioner has instructed that this work be expedited to ensure those engaging in illegal waste disposal can be identified and held accountable.
