Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that West Bengal featured prominently in conversations during his recent five-nation foreign tour, using the observation to underscore what he described as growing international attention on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s electoral momentum. Modi made the remarks while addressing a public gathering in Surat, Gujarat, after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth ₹18,800 crore.

Modi told the Surat audience that the subject of West Bengal came up repeatedly during his recent visits to five foreign countries. 'The recent elections in Bengal... you may be wondering why I suddenly mentioned Bengal. But during my recent visit to five countries, I noticed that Bengal was being discussed everywhere,' he said.

He argued that the international interest reflected the scale of the BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA)'s electoral performance, which he characterised as a 'massive mandate' across West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry.

Beyond state assembly results, Modi also pointed to victories in local body elections as evidence of the BJP's expanding grassroots presence. 'In panchayat and municipal corporation elections being held across the country, the BJP is also securing victories,' he said.

'Every such election conveys only one message. The country does not like anarchy, uncertainty, and pessimism,' Modi said. 'When the people of a nation are determined, every national goal can be achieved. That is India's strength,' he asserted.
