The arrests took place in the Dwarka district of the National Capital, with officers from the Bindapur police station successfully recovering 5.23 grams of melted gold and 589.15 grams of melted silver.
The police action followed an investigation initiated after a complaint was filed on August 1. The online e-FIR No. 80071435/25, U/s-305 BNS was processed by the Bindapur police, leading to a swift response team visiting the complainant.
The complainant, Ishika, a resident of Shrichand Park in Matiyala, reported that unidentified individuals had stolen her jewelry, prompting her to file the mentioned e-FIR.
According to police statements, under the guidance of Dwarka District Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ankit Singh, a specialized team from the Bindapur police station was formed, including ASI Kulber, Head Constable Neeraj, HC Mukesh, Constable Rajesh Dagar, and Ct. Ashish, all under the supervision of the SHO and overall oversight of Rajkumar, ACP (Dabri).
As part of the investigation, the team reviewed CCTV footage from the area, revealing no one entering or leaving the house. It was also noted that none of the doors or locks had been tampered with. Following this, residents Pinki and Poonam were rigorously questioned.
During their interrogation, they disclosed that the mother and daughter had accessed the home via a ventilator to commit the theft.
The stolen jewelry was subsequently sold at a local shop. Based on the suspects' information, police recovered the gold and silver from the shop owner.
Pinki, 42 years old, and her daughter Poonam, aged 22, both hail from Uttam Nagar in Delhi.
The investigation remains ongoing, with further updates anticipated.
