Alappuzha, Feb 12 (NationPress) Just four days after V.C. Saji passed away following nearly a month of treatment at Medical College Hospital, her remains were exhumed on Wednesday due to a complaint filed by her daughter against her father.
Saji, aged 48, had been hospitalized since January 8th after her husband and daughter claimed she suffered an injury from a fall. They informed the medical staff that she had fallen down the stairs, resulting in a head injury.
Despite treatment, her health deteriorated, leading to her being placed on a ventilator, and she ultimately succumbed on February 9.
After the funeral, a dispute erupted between Sony (Saji’s husband) and their daughter. Following this altercation, she reported her father to the police.
The complaint was registered at the Cherthala police station. In her statement, she alleged that her father physically assaulted her mother, specifically stating she witnessed him forcefully striking her head against a wall.
The daughter also mentioned that she withheld these details from the hospital staff, as her primary aim was to save her mother’s life.
In response to the complaint, the police apprehended Sony for questioning.
Sony, who operates a utensils shop in the Alappuzha district, is currently under investigation.
On Wednesday, after the exhumation, the body was transported to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
