Bhopal, March 29 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, is set to launch a significant water conservation initiative on March 30 in Ujjain in celebration of Gudi Padwa.

During a formal ceremony at the Kshipra River, after performing prayers in Ujjain, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the campaign, which will run until June 30.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Chief Minister Yadav will unveil a new water conservation project daily throughout this period. The goal of this initiative is to enhance groundwater levels and raise awareness regarding water conservation.

The projects to be launched include the creation of ponds in rural areas and water structures for wildlife in both forests and zoos. This also encompasses 90 small and medium irrigation projects and 50,000 new farm ponds aimed at supporting small and marginal farmers.

The campaign will emphasize rainwater harvesting, the revival of existing water sources, and the implementation of effective water conservation methods.

The Chief Minister has directed all relevant departments to give top priority to water conservation initiatives and to engage the community as much as possible.

A total of over a dozen state government departments, including Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development Authority, Environment, and Urban Development, have been tasked with specific responsibilities for the campaign.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the nationwide water conservation initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed into a mass movement, with Madhya Pradesh aligning with it under the motto ‘water from farms stays in farms, water from villages stays in villages’.

He stated that the campaign aims to amplify these efforts, ultimately making Madhya Pradesh a water-secure state.
