New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) A total of 2,406 cadets, which includes 898 girl cadets, from 28 states and eight Union Territories, are taking part in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp (RDC) that commenced on Tuesday at the Cariappa Parade Ground, located in Delhi Cantonment.
The inaugural ceremony featured an all-religion prayer, attended by NCC officials and student representatives, as stated by the Ministry of Defence.
During the event, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, Director General of NCC, welcomed the cadets and congratulated them for their selection to this prestigious Republic Day Camp.
He encouraged the cadets to exhibit the highest standards of character, integrity, selfless service, camaraderie, and teamwork, transcending barriers of religion, language, and caste, embodying the true spirit of ‘Nation First’.
This month-long camp will host various inter-directorate competitions and events such as the Best Cadet Competition, Small Arms Firing, and the Marching Contingent during the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, alongside Flag Area Designing.
This year's participation of 2,406 cadets, inclusive of 898 girl cadets, from 28 states and 08 Union Territories marks a record high.
Additionally, cadets and officers from 25 Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs) will also partake in the festivities this year under the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP).
Staying true to its motto of ‘Unity and Discipline’, the Republic Day Camp unites NCC cadets from across the country, offering them training and cultural exchange opportunities, while instilling a profound sense of patriotism, discipline, and leadership.
In the previous NCC Republic Day Camp (RDC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) PM rally where he also presented the Best Cadet Awards and witnessed a cultural program.
While addressing the gathering on NCC Day, the Prime Minister congratulated the youth from across India who participated virtually through the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) portal.
“Being selected for the Republic Day Parade is an achievement in itself,” stated the PM in the previous rally addressing the cadets.
He added that these memories would last a lifetime, and the cadets would feel proud to have participated in this significant occasion.
PM Modi congratulated award winners, sharing that he had the privilege of flagging off several NCC campaigns that connect India's heritage with the aspirations of the youth. He extended his best wishes to all cadets involved in these initiatives.
PM Modi noted that the NCC was established around the time of India's independence and highlighted its role in inspiring the youth towards nation-building and instilling the importance of discipline.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that extensive efforts have been made by the government to expand the responsibilities of the NCC in recent years.
He mentioned that NCC presence has now been extended to border areas and coastal districts, covering over 170 border talukas and nearly 100 coastal talukas.
PM Modi also commended the three armed forces for their role in specially training young NCC cadets in these regions, which has benefited thousands of youth living in border areas.
He expressed pride in the fact that the NCC stands as the largest uniformed youth organization worldwide.
