This event once again underscores the failure of the Railways and the government's lack of sensitivity. Given the influx of devotees heading to Prayagraj, superior arrangements should have been in place at the station. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge voiced his sorrow on social media, stating, "The reports of many individuals losing their lives in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station are extremely sorrowful. The footage emerging from the station is heart-wrenching. The Narendra Modi government's attempt to conceal the facts surrounding the deaths at New Delhi Railway Station is both shameful and unacceptable. DCP Railway KPS Malhotra attributed the chaos to multiple factors, stating that a spike in passengers coupled with delays of two trains led to the tumult.
"Essentially, at one moment, a train was delayed, and additionally, there were extra tickets sold for Prayagraj. Within a brief span of approximately 10 minutes, the arrival of more individuals and the delays of two trains were the primary causes of the pandemonium," said Malhotra.
