Gangtok, March 21 (NationPress) Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang asserted on Thursday that the entire Northeast has experienced a significant transformation due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The region now boasts excellent road, railway, and air connectivity with the rest of the nation.

The Chief Minister was present at the eighth North-East Youth Festival held at Paljor Stadium.

Union Minister of State (MoS) Raksha Khadse also attended the lively event celebrating youth empowerment, cultural exchange, and national integration.

Chief Minister Tamang highlighted that the Central government has initiated numerous programs for the transformation of the Northeast since 2014, focusing on enhanced connectivity, infrastructure, and economic prospects.

The CM expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for acknowledging the Northeast as 'Ashta Lakshmi' and for his ongoing support through initiatives like UNNATI 2024, StartUp India, and StandUp India.

In his address, CM Tamang noted that the theme 'Empower Youth, Empower Region – My Bharat, Viksit Bharat' resonates with Prime Minister Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, striving for a fully developed India.

He emphasized the significance of education, skill development, entrepreneurship, tourism, and cultural preservation, showcasing the Northeast's rich heritage, exceptional talent in sports and arts, as well as the potential of eco-tourism and sustainable growth.

He encouraged the youth to assume leadership roles, innovate, and contribute to India’s advancement.

“The festival, which symbolizes unity and progress, serves as a platform for youth to share ideas, discover diverse cultures, and contribute to a stronger Northeast and a developed India,” the Chief Minister remarked.

He reaffirmed his dedication to collaboration for a brighter and more prosperous future.

Expressing appreciation, the Chief Minister thanked Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Union MoS Raksha Khadse, and all officials and participants for their contributions to the festival's success.

Despite Union Minister Mandaviya's absence due to unavoidable circumstances, Chief Minister Tamang recognized the unconditional support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The event, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, brought together 552 participants from across the Northeast, including NSS volunteers, members of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, and officials.
