New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) Awadh Ojha, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominee for Delhi's Patparganj Assembly constituency, submitted his nomination on Friday, marking the deadline for filing nomination papers for the upcoming 70-member Assembly elections.
Filled with enthusiasm for his inaugural electoral battle, Ojha expressed confidence in challenging the BJP's robust campaign strategy with AAP's focus on development.
In an interview with IANS, he effectively countered the 'AAPda' jibe, asserting that it is actually 'Sampada' and not 'AAPda', as claimed by the BJP.
Sampada, which translates to resources in Hindi, stands in opposition to the term 'AAPda', first introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a recent public gathering. The BJP's Delhi unit has increasingly leveraged this term to criticize AAP's perceived deficiencies in governance.
Ojha, who transitioned from being a civil services educator to a politician, condemned the BJP's 'abusive and hateful' rhetoric surrounding the Delhi elections, asserting that the AAP government has ushered in a new era of governance characterized by positive politics.
"AAP is not 'AAPda' but rather 'Sampada'. Under Arvind Kejriwal, numerous welfare initiatives have been introduced, all of which have proven to be Sampada for the city's inhabitants," he remarked.
He elaborated, "All welfare initiatives like free electricity, free water, Mohalla clinics, and government schools are Sampadas. No resident would want to forfeit their sampada."
When asked about AAP's grassroots support, he stated that the residents of Delhi are content with Arvind Kejriwal and will re-elect him.
He also addressed the BJP's allegations regarding AAP's leader insulting the Poorvanchalis, a significant voter base in the capital, asserting that the AAP chief has treated all residents with deep respect.
“Those leveling false accusations are doing so with ill intent,” he added.
Earlier that day, Avadh Ojha and his wife visited a temple to pay their respects before heading to the nomination filing center.
Having joined the AAP led by Kejriwal last month, Ojha is contesting from the Patparganj Assembly, a constituency previously represented by Manish Sisodia, a close aide of the AAP chief and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
