Ongoing Investigations into the Stampede Incident at Sandhya Theatre: Telangana DGP

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (NationPress) Investigations are currently being conducted regarding the stampede that occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre, which tragically resulted in the death of a woman during the premiere screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The Telangana Director General of Police, Dr. Jitender, remarked on Sunday that the law will follow its course in this matter.
The police chief's comments were made in response to inquiries regarding the allegations against actor Allu Arjun.
"Let us refrain from discussing this further. Numerous developments have taken place. The case is actively under investigation, and the court is examining various facets of the situation. It is currently sub judice," he stated.
"Additionally, the law will inevitably take its course. That is all I can say. Nothing more," the DGP added.
A 38-year-old woman lost her life, and her eight-year-old son sustained serious injuries during the premiere of the film at Sandhya Theatre, where actor Allu Arjun was present.
The day following the stampede, the police charged the theatre management, Allu Arjun, and his team with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Allu Arjun, identified as accused number 11 in the case, was apprehended on December 13. He was subsequently presented before a city court, which placed him in 14-day judicial custody.
The High Court granted him interim bail on the same day, leading to his release from Chanchalguda Jail the following day.
As the 14-day judicial remand period concluded on December 27, the actor participated in a virtual court appearance at Nampally Court.
The court has postponed the hearing related to the stampede case until January 10, while the hearing regarding his regular bail petition has been adjourned to December 30.
In the midst of the investigation, the police interrogated Allu Arjun on December 24 for a duration of three hours at Chikkadpally Police Station.
In a separate matter concerning the suicides of police personnel across various regions of Telangana, the DGP indicated that multiple factors may contribute to these tragic incidents. He disagreed with the notion that work-related stress is solely to blame.
"There could be a myriad of issues involved such as financial difficulties, family problems, emotional challenges, and personal matters. I cannot assert that this phenomenon is attributable to a single cause. We cannot generalize that it is solely due to work pressure. While some instances might be related to work pressure, that is not the entire picture," Dr. Jitender articulated.
The police chief emphasized their response to the issue through an internal mechanism, stating that there are officers who provide counseling for employees facing family, emotional, and financial challenges.
"If we are unable to manage the issue at the departmental level, we seek assistance from professional counselors," he concluded.
