New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Sunday that Operation Sindoor stands as proof of India’s capability to overwhelm adversaries using home-grown resources, emphasizing that the nation will decisively respond to those who threaten its sovereignty.
While inaugurating the foundation of BEML’s Greenfield Rail Manufacturing facility -- BRAHMA -- in Umariya, Madhya Pradesh, the Defence Minister characterized the recent military action as a forceful response to the vicious and cowardly terrorist assault on civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
“We do not provoke anyone, but those who provoke us will face consequences,” he asserted.
Singh highlighted that the triumph of Operation Sindoor signifies India’s increasing self-sufficiency and self-assurance in the defence sector.
“Our Armed Forces effectively employed indigenous equipment, which was crucial to the operation’s success. India has reached this milestone due to its commitment to becoming Aatmanirbhar in defence,” he stated.
Recognizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for reshaping the defence environment, Singh mentioned that India now produces world-class equipment domestically and exports it to allied nations.
“Our defence production and exports are growing at an extraordinary rate, reaching unprecedented levels. This represents the new defence landscape of New India,” he added.
He further noted that in the Financial Year 2024-25, annual defence production reached a record Rs 1.51 lakh crore, while defence exports soared to Rs 23,622 crore.
Highlighting India’s economic advancement, Singh remarked that the nation’s economy is expanding at approximately 6.5% annually and is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to achieve the objective of Viksit Bharat by 2047, with defence self-reliance being a vital pillar of national security and economic strength.
Speaking about the BRAHMA project, Singh stated that initiatives like this are crucial for establishing the technological and industrial foundation necessary for both defence and civilian industries. He commended BEML for enhancing the country’s mobility solutions and encouraged a stronger emphasis on research and development.
