Owaisi Challenges Modi's Support for Israel Amid Ideological Concerns
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 27 (NationPress) Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, on Friday expressed concerns regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s apparent favoritism towards Israel, asserting that it stems from a particular ideology.
The MP from Hyderabad stated that the ideologies of Zionists and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are rooted in hate.
Owaisi criticized the Prime Minister's assertion that India stands resolutely with Israel, claiming that his overt backing of the 'genocidal regime' of Israel is detrimental to national interests.
During his speech at the Jalsa-e-Youm-ul-Qur’an event held at Masjid-e-Chowk following Friday prayers, Owaisi highlighted that Israel has killed 73,000 Palestinians in Gaza. He noted that while the Prime Minister could have condemned Hamas, he failed to denounce Israeli aggression.
He pointed out that Israel is regarded as the only racist nation globally, where the West Bank and Gaza have become open-air prisons. The homes of Palestinians in the West Bank are routinely demolished by Zionists to facilitate their own settlements.
Owaisi reminded the Prime Minister about the International Criminal Court's warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that he is barred from entering Europe.
He tweeted, “The genocide in Gaza will be etched in history. PM Modi’s decision to visit Israel and greet a war criminal with an arrest warrant undermines India’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause.”
Owaisi conveyed that the Global South is increasingly alarmed by PM Modi’s actions and warned that such positions could undermine India’s stature within the international community.
The MP remarked on the historical connections between Zionists and the RSS, alleging that in the 1960s, the Israeli consul general in Mumbai routinely met with Jan Sangh representatives due to their shared animosity towards Muslims.
He also mentioned that Gopal Godse, brother of Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, had sought support from the Israeli consul general in 1973 to publish an anti-Muslim book.
Owaisi emphasized his advocacy for Palestine, considering it a crucial issue of justice, particularly as it holds significance as the third-holiest location for Muslims. He argued that justice necessitates the isolation of Israel.
When discussing the massacre of Palestinians, some individuals turn to the atrocities experienced by Hindus in Bangladesh, to which he responded, “We have also condemned this. Send the woman back, and the issue with Bangladesh will be resolved,” referring to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in exile in India.
He also questioned PM Modi’s silence on the potential U.S. military action against Iran, stating, “You visit Russia and proclaim India’s anti-war stance. Why the silence now?”
Owaisi raised serious concerns about the surge in hate crimes, mob violence, and targeted assaults against Muslims throughout the nation, especially during the holy month of Ramzan. He accused the ruling authorities of fostering an environment of fear, hatred, and impunity towards minorities.
He announced that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will commence in Telangana next month, adding, “The BJP aims to use SIR to disenfranchise voters, casting doubt on our civic integrity.”
