Hyderabad, March 3 (NationPress) AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the Central government for its ‘advisory’ directed at states to monitor pro-Iran radical preachers following the recent attacks on Iran by Israel and the US.

The MP from Hyderabad claimed that this advisory highlights the Modi government’s hypocrisy, questioning why no similar advisory has been issued to combat anti-Muslim hate speech.

On Tuesday, Owaisi took to ‘X’ to express his disapproval of the advisory reportedly released by the Union Home Ministry.

He stated, “There is a baba who has persistently breached his bail conditions and incited genocide against Muslims. The Central government itself supported a conference that advocated for the overthrow of India’s constitution. Since 2023, there has been an uptick in anti-Indian Muslim hate speeches explicitly mentioning Israel’s Gaza genocide,” he tweeted.

“No advisory has ever been issued to counter anti-Muslim hate speech. In such situations, the Centre claims that law and order falls under state jurisdiction,” he added.

The Union Home Ministry circulated a letter to all states and union territories on February 28, instructing them to keep a watch on inflammatory speeches by pro-Iran radical preachers that could incite violence.

States and UTs have been urged to monitor the social media activities of extremists and international terror group accounts.

The Ministry advised states to ensure that no law-and-order issues emerge, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance as global events might have domestic repercussions due to inflammatory rhetoric.

Numerous states experienced significant protests on Sunday and Monday condemning the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei during the US-Israel attacks.

Protests also took place in Hyderabad to express anger and sorrow over Khamenei's death.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has already denounced the killing of the Iranian Supreme Leader, with Owaisi labeling it as “illegal and immoral.”

AIMIM MLAs and MLCs actively participated in the demonstrations held in Hyderabad.

Point of View

The ongoing discourse surrounding the advisory issued by the Centre highlights the complex intersection of political strategy and community safety. The reactions from leaders like Owaisi reflect a broader concern regarding the balance between national security and the protection of minority rights.
