Rameswaram, April 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram unites technology with tradition and will enhance connectivity for both commuters and pilgrims.
While extending his wishes to the nation on Ram Navami, PM Modi noted that the life of Lord Shri Ram and the effective governance during his reign serve as inspiration for nation-building.
On Sunday, PM Modi inaugurated the New Pamban Railway Bridge in Rameswaram, located in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram district, marking a significant advancement in India’s infrastructure.
The Prime Minister operated the bridge's vertical lift span using a remote control, allowing a Coast Guard vessel to navigate beneath.
During a large public address following the inauguration, PM Modi expressed, "I feel privileged to have prayed at the Ramanath Swami Temple today. On this auspicious occasion, I am delighted to unveil developmental projects worth Rs 8300 crore. These rail and road initiatives will enhance connectivity in Tamil Nadu. Congratulations to the people of Tamil Nadu!"

Expressing gratitude to the engineers and laborers who contributed to the bridge's construction, PM Modi remarked that a site over a millennium old is now connected to a modern engineering marvel.
"This bridge is India’s first vertical lift sea bridge. Large vessels will be able to traverse it, and trains will also utilize it. I recently inaugurated a new train service and a ship as well. Again, I congratulate the people of Tamil Nadu for this significant project," he stated.
