Mumbai, July 25 (NationPress) BJP leader Sanjay Upadhyay on Friday commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as a pivotal moment in history, highlighting that he has surpassed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to become India’s second-longest serving Prime Minister in a single uninterrupted term.

Speaking to IANS, Upadhyay remarked, “The Congress has always confined the nation to the Gandhi family, spreading confusion and division.”

“In contrast, Prime Minister Modi has shattered that illusion and fortified democracy. He is at the helm of a robust government focused exclusively on the nation’s interests. With 4,078 days in office, PM Modi is now officially the second-longest serving Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru,” he added.

Under PM Modi’s guidance, Upadhyay noted, “India is swiftly advancing on the development path, striving for self-reliance, and is firmly oriented towards realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047.

He also addressed the escalating political tensions in Bihar, where opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav hinted at a possible boycott of the upcoming Assembly elections.

“Recently, a sense of panic has been evident in the statements from Bihar's opposition leaders,” Upadhyay stated.

“They claim that Nitish Kumar’s fate will mirror that of Maharashtra, but this merely indicates their acceptance of defeat. A formidable NDA government will be reestablished under PM Modi and CM Nitish. The opposition previously attempted to sow division among us and failed. Now, by suggesting an election boycott, RJD leaders are conceding before the battle has even begun.”

Upadhyay also commented on the controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar, a move that sparked outrage in Parliament among opposition parties.

“Concerns regarding election rigging and discrepancies in voter lists are serious issues,” he asserted.

“There are names on the list of individuals who no longer reside in the area or who are brought in solely for voting purposes. The Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision has unveiled such practices, which is why opposition parties are apprehensive. They even conspired to include foreign voters—now being brought to light.”

He lauded the Election Commission’s initiative and added, “A verified voter list will only enhance democracy. The citizens of India have complete confidence in the Election Commission.”

The BJP leader also praised the signing of the landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the UK, encompassing various crucial sectors, including agriculture.

“Even amid the COVID crisis, while China was engaged in destruction, India—under PM Modi—stood for global welfare,” Upadhyay asserted.

“The global community now recognizes that India’s ascent benefits everyone. Today, as many nations are looking to invest in India, the FTA led by Union Minister Piyush Goyal will unveil new pathways for trade and diplomacy.”

He emphasized that under PM Modi’s leadership, India has consistently adhered to a “Nation First” policy.

“We do not yield under any pressure. India’s interests always take precedence,” he concluded.
