PM Modi Set to Introduce Bima Sakhi Initiative Aimed at Women's Empowerment in Haryana

New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be traveling to Haryana on December 9 to officially launch the Bima Sakhi Yojana, a step aligned with his ongoing commitment to promoting women's empowerment and financial inclusion.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the launch will take place in the historic city of Panipat and is part of an initiative by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). This program aims to empower women aged between 18 to 70 years who have completed at least Class X.

Participants will receive specialized training and a stipend for the initial three years to enhance their financial literacy and awareness about insurance, as stated in the PMO announcement.

Upon finishing their training, these women will qualify to work as LIC agents, and the newly trained Bima Sakhis will have the chance to be considered for roles as Development Officers within LIC. During the event, the Prime Minister will also hand out appointment certificates to the aspiring Bima Sakhis.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the main campus of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University in Karnal.

This new campus, along with six regional research stations covering an area of 495 acres, is expected to be developed at an investment exceeding Rs 700 crore.

The University will feature a College of Horticulture for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, in addition to five schools that will encompass ten horticulture disciplines. The institution aims to promote crop diversification and conduct world-class research for the advancement of horticultural technologies.

Before heading to Haryana, the Prime Minister will first arrive in Jaipur, where at 10:30 a.m., he will inaugurate the 'Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024' at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC). Following this, he will proceed to Panipat in Haryana.

The theme for the Investment Summit, scheduled to take place from December 9-11, is 'Replete, Responsible, Ready'. This summit will include 12 thematic sessions across various sectors, focusing on topics such as water security, sustainable mining, sustainable finance, inclusive tourism, agri-business innovations, and women-led startups. Moreover, there will be eight country-specific sessions dealing with themes like 'Water Management for Livable Cities', 'Versatility of Industries - Manufacturing and Beyond', and 'Trade & Tourism'.

Additional events such as the Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave and the MSME Conclave will also take place. The Rajasthan Global Business Expo will showcase thematic pavilions including the Rajasthan Pavilion, Country Pavilions, and a Startups Pavilion, among others. More than 32 countries, including 16 partner nations and 20 international organizations, are expected to participate in this summit.
