PM Modi to Launch ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ in Panipat, Empowering 35,000 Women

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) During his visit to Panipat, Haryana on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to launch the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). This initiative focuses on training and empowering women aged 18-70 who have completed their class 10 education.

The ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ aims to train up to one lakh women nationwide to become LIC agents, with 8,000 women from Haryana included in this number.

Participants will earn a monthly stipend of Rs 7,000 in the first year, Rs 6,000 in the second year, and Rs 5,000 in the third year, alongside initiatives to promote financial literacy and insurance awareness.

This program will enable women to pursue careers as insurance agents, known as Bima Sakhi. The primary goal of the Bima Sakhi Yojana is to offer job opportunities and financial support to rural women.

This event is especially meaningful as PM Modi previously launched the notable ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign in Panipat back in 2015.

Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for the main campus of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University in Karnal.

Set to occur in Sector 13/17 of the textile city, Panipat has been decorated with over 5,000 hoardings to welcome the Prime Minister. A large turnout of women from across Haryana is anticipated for this grand occasion.

Notably, on January 22, 2015, PM Modi initiated the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ program from Panipat to safeguard girl children and correct the gender imbalance, particularly within the state.

The slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' translates to ‘Save the girl child, educate the girl child’. This scheme focuses on raising awareness against gender bias and improving welfare services for girls, initiated with a budget of Rs 100 crore.

In line with the government's vision of empowering women for a developed India (Viksit Bharat), the event will also feature notable figures such as Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and other central and state government officials.
