Haryana Aims for 35,000 Bima Sakhis Ahead of PM Modi's December 9 Event: Minister Arti Rao

Sonipat, December 5 (NationPress) Haryana's Health Minister Arti Rao has revealed the state's ambitious goal of empowering 35,000 women as Bima Sakhis through the Bima Sakhi Yojana, which is designed to promote women's empowerment and self-sufficiency.
On December 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this significant initiative in Panipat, representing another step forward in the quest for women's empowerment. This scheme will provide women with financial support ranging from Rs 7,000 to Rs 21,000, along with multiple commissions and rewards as part of the program.
During a press conference in Sonipat on Thursday, she stated, “Our goal is to reach 35,000 Bima Sakhis who will educate other women about this scheme to foster self-reliance.”
She called for maximum participation in PM Modi's upcoming event, emphasizing the government's commitment to making women self-sufficient. The government aims to appoint one woman from each village as an agent under this scheme.
The Bima Sakhi Yojana continues the legacy of initiatives like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, which PM Modi launched in Panipat in 2016.
On the subject of the ongoing farmers' movement, Arti Rao stated that Haryana is unique, as 24 crops are being procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the state. She advised farmers from other states to refrain from protesting in Haryana, claiming that a committee composed of Supreme Court and High Court judges is addressing their grievances. “Why should farmers from other states come here? They should protest in their own states,” she asserted.
However, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda refuted these claims, arguing that even paddy crops are not being procured at MSP. He criticized the government for its failure to provide essential resources like seeds, water, and fertilizers, accusing it of neglecting farmers' needs.
In the meantime, farmers from Punjab and Haryana have decided to resume their “Delhi Chalo” march starting Friday (December 6) to demand attention from the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
Deputy Commissioner of Panipat Dr Virender Dahiya and Superintendent of Police Lokendra Singh conducted a site inspection for PM Modi’s event. Dahiya confirmed that all arrangements are nearing completion, with the Special Protection Group (SPG) set to assume security duties on Friday.
Health Minister Arti Rao, while speaking with the media, also addressed the situation at Sonipat’s Civil Hospital alongside MLA Nikhil Madaan, announcing the replacement of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to enhance healthcare services in the region.
As the countdown to December 9 continues, Haryana’s administration is diligently working to ensure the successful launch of the Bima Sakhi Yojana, which promises to establish a new standard for women’s empowerment within the state.
