Neemuch, Feb 12 (NationPress) Deeken, a small area nestled in the heart of Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district, has experienced a remarkable transformation in the lives of countless individuals, thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). This flagship initiative of the Modi administration is replacing crumbling kutcha houses with durable concrete homes, bringing joy and celebration to the residents as they embrace this positive change in their lives.

For many, having a permanent residence was once merely a distant aspiration—until PMAY turned it into a reality.

While the cold of winter and the heat of summer could be managed, the monsoon rains would soak through the roofs of their old houses, leading to restless nights. These fragile dwellings not only caused discomfort but also stripped families of their dignity and sense of security. The absence of a permanent home was, in many respects, a burden for the rural and urban impoverished, delaying numerous child marriages due to the lack of pucca houses. Nevertheless, PM Modi’s visionary program, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, has transformed this situation for families across the country.

Through this initiative, over 1,000 households in Deeken village of Neemuch district have received pucca houses, providing them with the security and pride that comes with owning a solid and lasting home. The beneficiaries have expressed profound gratitude, recognizing how PMAY has enhanced their lives and granted them newfound stability.

In an interview with IANS, Shravan Patidar, Chairman of Deeken Nagar Parishad, highlighted the significant effect of PMAY, recalling the commitment made by Prime Minister Modi during his initial term.

"Modiji promised a concrete house to every impoverished individual, and since 2016, thousands have realized that dream. With his vision and dedication, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has positively impacted lives in ways we never anticipated. Our council prioritizes ensuring that every eligible person benefits from this scheme," Patidar stated.

One beneficiary, Hariom Joshi, recounted his experience of living in a kutcha house with his family.

"I used to reside in a fragile dwelling, but through PMAY, I received Rs 2.5 lakh from Modiji’s program and completed building a concrete house with the remaining funds. Now, I feel secure, and I know that many others like me are reaping the benefits of this initiative. I am immensely grateful to PM Modi for making our dream a reality," he shared.

For Vishni Bai, a Dalit widow living with her two daughters in Deeken, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been a true blessing.

"The rain would inundate my home, and we faced struggles every season. However, upon learning about PMAY, I filled out the application, and with the Rs 2.5 lakh grant, I now have a strong, secure house. I also received a gas connection and toilet facilities. My life has improved significantly, and I feel fortunate to have this new home," she expressed.

Launched in 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana seeks to provide affordable and permanent housing to the economically weaker sections, low-income groups, and middle-income families across both rural and urban India. By 2023, the program aims to complete the construction of approximately 20 million houses. The 2023 Budget has further increased funding for PMAY by 66 percent, allocating over Rs 79,000 crore for this transformative endeavor.

For the residents of Deeken and millions nationwide, PMAY represents more than just a housing initiative—it serves as a catalyst for dignity, stability, and a brighter future.
