Punjab Police Captures Two Gang Members, Seizes 9 mm Glock Pistols

Chandigarh, Dec 21 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit of Punjab Police in Pathankot has successfully dismantled a gangster operation by apprehending two of its members. This operation also led to the seizure of two high-end 9 mm Glock pistols, along with four magazines and 14 cartridges, according to statements made by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Saturday.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Rauwal in Batala, and Dilpreet Singh, who hails from Raimal in Batala.
It has been noted that Sunil possesses a criminal background, with an active case filed under the NDPS Act against him. He had recently been released on bail from Gurdaspur Jail on February 27.
DGP Yadav stated that initial investigations indicate that the accused received the shipment of weapons from Ajnala in Amritsar based on instructions from their handlers, tasked with delivering it to an undisclosed recipient.
Ongoing investigations aim to trace the origin of the firearms and identify additional suspects within the criminal network, he added.
Assistant Inspector General of Pathankot, Sukhminder Singh Mann, mentioned that police had received intelligence regarding the suspects Sunil Kumar and Dilpreet Singh, who were reportedly in contact with gangsters and had recently obtained a shipment of arms and ammunition from them.
Upon receiving this information, law enforcement set up a sting operation and successfully arrested both suspects, recovering the arms and ammunition from their possession, he stated.
Mann further indicated that efforts are underway to investigate the previous shipments received and delivered by the accused.
A case has been filed under Section 25 of the Arms Act and Section 61 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Police Station of the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar. The arrested individuals will be presented in court shortly to secure police custody.
