New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday dismissed the claims made by AAP convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against BJP's New Delhi Constituency candidate Parvesh Verma as 'nonsense' and attributed them to his 'growing frustration'.
Kejriwal alleged that Verma, part of the BJP's campaign, was engaging in distributing money and organizing job camps under the 'Har Ghar Naukari' initiative to entice registrations.
In a statement to IANS, Puri remarked: 'Why is Arvind Kejriwal talking about Parvesh Verma? He has already asserted that an NGO from his father's era is disbursing money. Arvind Kejriwal should concentrate on his own constituency. His frustration is apparent, and he is speaking nonsense.'
The allegations brought forth by AAP's legal team include assertions of job camps being established to register individuals for the 'Har Ghar Naukari' campaign and the distribution of Rs 1,100 by BJP members.
In response to these complaints, the New Delhi district election officer forwarded an action report to the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, directing police authorities to probe the claims regarding job camps and money distribution. The authorities were instructed to enact suitable measures in accordance with the Representation of People Act.
Puri also addressed Kejriwal's recent comments about 'fighting to save the country', stating: 'Everyone knows who is genuinely saving the country. To achieve NRI status, one must reside abroad for a minimum of six months, and now Kejriwal is getting closer to that. We may soon require a new category for 'NRI politicians'. If the implications of Kejriwal’s actions weren’t so dire for Delhi, I would consider him for the 'Comedian of the Year' award.'
Furthermore, Puri criticized Kejriwal's previous remarks about the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), pointing out: 'In 2012, Kejriwal asserted that without the CAG, Congress would have sold the nation. Now, why doesn’t he present the CAG report in the Assembly? The High Court recently reminded him that the report should have been submitted on time.'
As the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections approach, the BJP aims to end its nearly three-decade-long absence in the capital, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the campaign. The party is ramping up its efforts to challenge AAP's dominance, preparing for a direct confrontation. While the BJP is determined to regain control of Delhi, AAP remains optimistic about achieving a third consecutive term under Kejriwal's guidance.
