Guwahati, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), which serves the northeastern states along with seven districts in West Bengal and five districts in north Bihar, has been proactively executing eviction initiatives to eliminate unauthorized encroachments on railway property within its jurisdiction.

NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated that to uphold the safety, security, and seamless operations of railway activities, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NFR conducts inspections and eviction operations periodically at strategic railway sites.

Recently, the Engineering Department, aided by the RPF of NFR, carried out a significant eviction campaign in the Jalpaiguri railway station vicinity in north Bengal, leading to the demolition of approximately 70 unauthorized non-concrete ‘Kachha’ structures. This substantial action emphasizes NFR's ongoing commitment to protect railway assets from illegal occupation, the CPRO noted.

A similar operation took place on January 23 at the New Jalpaiguri Railway Colony, resulting in the removal of an unauthorized structure.

Sharma highlighted that these efforts are vital for maintaining clear railway areas, ensuring unhindered railway operations, and averting unauthorized settlements that present safety hazards.

“The RPF of NFR conducts regular surveillance and preventive strategies to prevent encroachments from becoming established,” the NFR official remarked.

He mentioned that awareness initiatives, patrol surveillance, and stringent enforcement measures are integral strategies employed by NFR and its protective unit to deter further unauthorized encroachments.

“NFR is unwavering in its commitment to keep railway lands and assets free from encroachments,” he added.

The NFR CPRO urged passengers and stakeholders to collaborate with railway officials and report any unauthorized occupation of railway property.

NFR is dedicated to preserving the integrity of railway infrastructure, ensuring safety, and providing an unobstructed railway network for the smooth transit of trains and passengers, he concluded.
