Mangaluru, Jan 23 (NationPress) Activists from Rama Sena launched an assault on a massage centre in Mangaluru, Karnataka, on Thursday, claiming that the management was engaged in unlawful activities at the establishment.
As per the police reports, the Hindu activists, under the leadership of local figure Prasad Attavara, forcibly entered the massage parlour situated in the Bijai locality, causing destruction to furniture and glass fixtures.
A total of 12 individuals were involved in damaging the premises of the massage parlour.
In response to the incident, state Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that he has instructed the police to promptly apprehend those responsible.
"The reason behind the attack remains unclear. I have ordered the police to take action in accordance with the law. Such incidents are unacceptable. Businesses should operate without interference, and no one has the right to take the law into their own hands," Parameshwara remarked.
He emphasized that if there are establishments engaged in illegal activities, individuals should report them to the authorities, and the police will take necessary measures.
"Civil authorities set conditions for operating businesses. If these conditions are not met, the relevant authorities will act accordingly," he added.
Minister of Health Dinesh Gundu Rao, responsible for the Mangaluru district, condemned the incident.
He stated, "Acts of hooliganism disguised under the name of Sri Ram Sene are taking place. Such actions tarnish Lord Rama's name. No individual has the authority to enforce the law themselves. Violence and disturbances in the guise of Sri Ram Sene are intolerable."
"If there are any illegal activities, they should be reported to the police, and formal complaints must be lodged. Resorting to destruction and acting like hooligans is unacceptable. Everyone is expected to adhere to the law and maintain order,” Minister Rao urged.
"Firm instructions have been issued to law enforcement to take strict measures against such individuals. Committing acts in the name of God is a disservice to Lord Rama. Hindu organizations must also denounce such behavior," Rao stressed.
"Should anyone engage in moral policing and take the law into their own hands, we will enforce stringent actions against them. Continued such behavior will hinder the future development of areas like Mangaluru," he warned.
He further noted that since the Congress government took office, efforts have been made to uphold law and order in the state; however, certain organizations are attempting to disrupt peace and create disorder, posing a threat to the state's stability.
In a related development, Sri Ram Sena has stated that they had no affiliation with the attackers.
Ram Sena founder Prasad Attavar informed the media that the attack was executed by Ram Sena activists.
"Drugs were allegedly administered to young girls aged 18 to 19, leading to their involvement in prostitution. One of the girls, related to one of our workers, was reportedly trapped here. We acted on a tip-off regarding illegal activities. There are around 25 massage parlours in Mangaluru, and this specific parlour was targeted based on information received. Our intention was to rescue the girls," he claimed.
However, the owner of the massage parlour, Sudheer, contended that the attackers brought some items with them and left them at the parlour.
"The parlour has been operating for two years, fully compliant with all necessary documents and licenses," he stated.
