Mangaluru, Jan 24 (NationPress) A court has placed 14 individuals under judicial custody until February 7 regarding the assault on a massage parlour in Karnataka's Mangaluru city.

Rama Sene members conducted an attack on a massage centre in Mangaluru on Thursday, alleging that the centre's management was involved in unlawful activities.

According to reports from the police, these activists, led by local figure Prasad Attavara, forcibly entered the massage parlour situated in the Bijai area, damaging its furniture and glass.

Witnesses claim that a group of over 12 individuals vandalized the entire massage parlour, threatening the women employees and others present.

In response to the incident, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that he has instructed the police to swiftly arrest those responsible.

“I have ordered immediate action in accordance with the law. Such incidents must not occur. Business operations should not be obstructed, and no one is entitled to take the law into their own hands,” Parameshwara emphasized.

He added that if any centres are engaging in illegal activities, complaints should be lodged with the authorities, and the police would take necessary actions.

“Civil authorities have likely imposed conditions for operating their businesses. If these are not adhered to, action will be taken against them,” he noted.

Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Minister of Health overseeing Mangaluru district, condemned the incident.

He remarked: "Under the guise of Sri Ram Sene, acts of violence are being perpetrated. Do not defame Lord Ram's name through such deeds. No one is permitted to take the law into their own hands. This kind of violence and disruption in the name of Sri Ram Sene is intolerable.

"If any illegal activities are observed, they should be reported to the police, and complaints should be filed. Taking the law into one's own hands and behaving like hoodlums is unacceptable. Everyone should respect the law and ensure peace and order.

"Strict directives have been given to the police to impose severe consequences on such individuals. Committing such acts in the name of God is an affront to Lord Rama. Hindu organizations must also denounce such actions,” Rao asserted.

“Anyone engaging in moral policing and taking the law into their own hands will face strict repercussions. Continued such behavior will hinder the progress of areas like Mangaluru in the future,” he cautioned.

Ram Sene founder Prasad Attavar informed the media that "the assault was executed by Ram Sene activists."

"Drugs were administered to young girls aged between 18 and 19 years, who were subsequently exploited for prostitution. One of the girls, related to one of our workers, has been trapped here. We attacked the centre following a tip-off. There are 25 massage parlours in Mangaluru. This particular parlour was targeted based on information regarding illegal activities. The attack aimed to rescue the girls,” he claimed.

However, the owner of the massage parlour, Sudheer, stated that the assailants brought items with them and left them in the parlour.

“The parlour has been operating for two years with all the necessary documentation and licenses,” he clarified.
