Patna, Oct 22 (NationPress) In a stunning twist just before the Bihar Assembly elections, the nomination of RJD candidate Shweta Suman from the Mohania Assembly constituency in Kaimur district has been nullified, marking a significant blow to the RJD and its leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Suman was seen in tears before reporters after her nomination was dismissed, following claims regarding the use of a fraudulent caste certificate.
She has accused the BJP of orchestrating a conspiracy against her, suggesting that the cancellation was driven by political motives.
The controversy ignited when the BJP lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, questioning her eligibility based on her non-residency in Bihar, which is a requirement for candidacy in a reserved constituency.
Following an examination, the Election Commission invalidated her nomination, pointing out inconsistencies in her documentation.
“The Election Commission allowed me the chance to correct the mistakes, but when I arrived at the ERO office, the officials simply informed me of my nomination's rejection. They didn’t listen to my explanation. If the decision was already made, why call me for corrections?” Suman stated, implicating BJP candidate Sangeeta Kumari in the entire incident.
Interestingly, a similar challenge was raised against Jan Suraaj candidate Geeta Devi (widely known as Geeta Pasi), also accused of being a non-resident of Bihar. However, upon verification, her documents were deemed valid, and her nomination was approved.
“The current MLA, Sangeeta Kumari, orchestrated a false complaint, intimidated by my rising popularity. She aims to secure victory through paperwork rather than engaging with the electorate. The public is aware of the truth and will express their opinion on election day,” Geeta remarked after her nomination was confirmed.
She also criticized the local administration, asserting that the public is prepared to hold accountable those officials who exploit citizens.
With Shweta Suman’s nomination cancellation, unrest has spread within RJD ranks, while the Jan Suraaj faction appears invigorated.
The Mohania contest, initially perceived as a triangular showdown among RJD, BJP, and Jan Suraaj, now seems to be evolving into a more unpredictable race.
This incident has escalated political tensions in the area, setting the stage for an even more intense confrontation in the approaching days.
