Patna, Feb 15 (NationPress) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Sanjay Yadav, has openly criticized the BJP, asserting that the party's alliance with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is primarily driven by fears surrounding RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Yadav argues that without the looming influence of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the BJP would not have upheld its partnership with Nitish Kumar.

Pointing out Lalu Prasad Yadav's lasting effect on Bihar's political arena, Sanjay Yadav highlighted that, apart from the 2010 elections, the RJD has persistently won a considerable number of seats in the state assembly, even forming a government in 2015.

He mentioned that he has raised multiple inquiries to the Central government regarding developmental assurances made to Bihar during Rajya Sabha sessions.

“In the Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced plans for three greenfield airports in Bihar, in addition to expanding the Patna airport and developing a brownfield airport at Bihta. However, specific details concerning the precise locations and allocated funding for these three projects were absent from the budget speech,” Yadav stated.

“After we questioned the locations of the three airports, BJP leaders clarified that two airports are set to be established in Sonpur in Saran district and Rajgir in Nalanda district,” Yadav added.

He has requested clarification on these matters, questioning the practicality and planning involved in building new airports in areas like Sonpur (Saran) and Rajgir (Nalanda), which are within a 65 KM radius of existing airports in Patna and Gaya.

Sanjay Yadav also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2015 pledge to grant Bihar special state status along with a special financial package. He is seeking transparency regarding the current status of these commitments, inquiring if the special status has been conferred and how the promised funds have been utilized.

With Prime Minister Modi's visit to Bihar scheduled for February 24, Sanjay Yadav stressed the necessity of addressing these outstanding issues.

He insists that while the Prime Minister's visit is welcome, there is a need for accountability and clarity regarding the promises made to the residents of Bihar.

In response to the BJP's claim of winning 225 seats in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, Yadav compared this ambition to the party's previously ambitious yet unfulfilled target of securing 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

He stated that such overconfidence could potentially result in disappointing outcomes in the upcoming state elections. The defeat of NDA is inevitable in Bihar.
