New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday criticized former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for expressing concerns over the struggles faced by auto-rickshaw drivers, challenging his inaction during his tenure in power.
Sachdeva accused the National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of engaging in political theatrics regarding an issue that he had failed to resolve.
“Kejriwal is akin to a political Natwarlal (a notorious con artist), adept at shifting his stance based on circumstances and indulging in wordplay,” Sachdeva remarked.
He asserted that throughout his decade-long administration, Kejriwal neglected to enhance the lives of auto-rickshaw drivers and daily wage earners, and now, out of power, he is merely offering crocodile tears.
The Delhi BJP President emphasized that the BJP administration under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is dedicated to improving both the living conditions and working environments of auto-rickshaw drivers and other laborers.
CM Gupta’s government is formulating initiatives not just for auto drivers but also to fulfill every election commitment made to various community sectors.
“We are committed to ensuring enhanced housing, education, and healthcare for auto drivers and all workers within the next year,” he added.
Sachdeva previously criticized the AAP government for its stance against firecrackers, claiming they misled the public regarding their use for Diwali celebrations.
He noted that for the last 7–8 years, AAP filed environmental reports in courts to placate a minority community, resulting in the Supreme Court's prohibition of firecrackers in Delhi during festivals like Dussehra, Durga Puja, and Diwali.
The BJP has consistently argued that firecrackers used for a brief period on Dussehra and Diwali are not a significant contributor to winter pollution in Delhi and therefore should be allowed, he stated.
However, former Chief Minister Kejriwal and former Environment Minister Gopal Rai intentionally fostered a climate that led to a ban on firecrackers to appease a specific minority populace.
The Kejriwal administration itself introduced “green crackers” but later fostered an environment that led to their prohibition as well.
Sachdeva pointed out that the AAP still opposes the Supreme Court permitting the use of firecrackers, particularly green ones.
He highlighted that statements from Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj indicate that AAP leaders still maintain that pollution levels are excessively high and thus green crackers should not be allowed.
