Bengaluru, Dec 22 (NationPress) The renowned spiritual figure Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's initiative, 'World Meditates with Gurudev', has achieved remarkable milestones, earning recognition in the Guinness World Records, the Asia Book of Records, and the World Records Union.

This significant event, orchestrated by the Art of Living Foundation, united millions globally, establishing a new standard for collective meditation.

According to the official announcement from the 'Art of Living', "The inaugural World Meditation Day represented an unmatched celebration of unity and inner tranquility. With participants joining from over 180 countries, the event highlighted the transformative potential of meditation as a worldwide movement."

Kicking off with the opening session at the United Nations and concluding with a live meditation led by Gurudev from the World Trade Center in New York, the day experienced a surge of meditation practices across various continents.

The records established included the 'Guinness World Record' for the highest number of viewers for a guided meditation live stream on YouTube.

Additionally, it set the Asia Book of Records for maximum participation from all Indian states in a single day of 'Guided Meditation' and for the highest number of nationalities joining in Guided Meditation within a day.

The World Records Union recognized the event for having the most views for an online guided meditation in a 24-hour period on YouTube and for the most live viewers of a guided meditation session online. It also noted the record for the most nationalities taking part in an online meditation session.

The meditation was streamed live, with millions engaging both virtually and in large groups to meditate for global peace and harmony.

Before guiding everyone into meditation, he shared: "Meditation is the journey from movement to stillness. To meditate, one must transition from excessive thinking to truly feeling what is present. Then, transcend the feeling towards the inner space. If you aspire to be sane, sensitive, and sensible, meditation is essential. It does not equate to inactivity; rather, it enhances your dynamism and peace. Even to be a revolutionary, meditation is vital."

The Art of Living initiative has received acclaim from world leaders, celebrities, athletes, professionals, and individuals from all demographics and age groups.

The event also witnessed significant involvement from farmers, educational institutions catering to visually impaired children, corporate entities, military personnel, healthcare providers, researchers, scientists, homemakers, indigenous communities, and even prison inmates, showcasing the universal appeal and influence of meditation. The world came together in a collective moment of peace and harmony, as stated in the release.
