Srinagar, Jan 27 (NationPress) The enchanting landscape of Srinagar has transformed into a winter wonderland following recent snowfall on Tuesday, bringing delight to the tourists who are captivated by the stunning views and deeming the area a true Paradise.
In conversations with IANS, numerous visitors shared their joy at experiencing the snowfall firsthand.
One enthusiastic traveler remarked, “I had heard so much about Kashmir and seen many images. This place is truly Heaven. Just yesterday, there was no snow, and I felt unlucky. But today, I woke up to see heavy snow blanketing everything. Truly, Kashmir is Paradise.”
Another visitor echoed similar feelings, stating, “It has been a long time since it snowed. This is a moment of immense joy for us. We came here specifically to witness snowfall.”
A different guest expressed, “Being in Kashmir while snow falls around is an incredible feeling. Everyone should visit this stunning place at least once.”
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant snowfall in various regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Leh, along with heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR, and the possibility of hailstorms in Rajasthan. The weather department has issued Yellow and Orange alerts for parts of Jammu and Kashmir for Tuesday.
According to the IMD, substantial snowfall is anticipated in districts such as Kishtwar, Kulgam, Bandipora, Srinagar, Pulwama, and Kupwara. Thunderstorms and hailstorms are also likely in several areas. Regions under an Orange alert include Jammu, Anantnag, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, Kishtwar, Pulwama, Reasi, and Ganderbal.
Despite challenges faced by the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent adverse weather, the sector is slowly recovering. The tourism sector was significantly affected after the April 22 Pahalgam attack last year, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including 25 tourists and one local.
In the wake of the attack, about 50 tourist destinations were temporarily closed for security reasons. However, many locations have recently reopened, with more expected to follow after security evaluations.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha noted that Jammu and Kashmir recorded 1.61 crore tourist visits by November 2025. He commended government initiatives to restore tourism following the Pahalgam attack and the floods in August and September.
He added that Jammu and Kashmir is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, with its economy projected to grow by 11 percent at current prices, fueled by ongoing government efforts and strategic policy measures.
