Tariq Anwar Critiques AAP, Calls for Development Like Sheila Dikshit Era

New Delhi, Jan 7 (NationPress) Congress MP Tariq Anwar has emphasized that his party is entering the Delhi Assembly elections with great vigor and noted that the public is reflecting on the development achieved during the late former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's administration because the AAP government has failed to deliver justice to the people of Delhi as they should have.
Acknowledging the hurdles presented by the AAP, Anwar stated, "It’s true that Kejriwal's party holds a significant position, but the visible discontent among the populace is clear. Congress is committed to leveraging this sentiment."
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the 70-member Delhi Assembly elections on Tuesday, with polling set for February 5 and results to be revealed on February 8.
In response to claims made by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding potential arrests involving himself, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia by the CBI, Anwar commented, "Such a possibility always exists. When the BJP feels politically vulnerable, it tends to misuse agencies like the CBI, ED, and the Income Tax Department to undermine the opposition. Kejriwal's fears are not without basis, and these scenarios could arise at any moment."
Addressing the recent Naxal incident in Chhattisgarh, Anwar criticized the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the sacrifices of security personnel not being in vain.
"Home Minister Amit Shah often makes declarations, yet the reality differs. Sadly, such events persist despite assurances that Naxalism has been eradicated. These recurring attacks that take the lives of our soldiers are a harsh reminder of the ground reality," he remarked.
Commenting on the ongoing protests by candidates from the Bihar Public Service Commission and the detention of Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor in Bihar, Anwar expressed that it is "regrettable."
He stated, "It’s ironic that someone who emerged from a students' movement is now suppressing students. The government should directly engage with the protesting students, understand their concerns, and resolve them, rather than resorting to violence and arrests. Such actions are unjust and counterproductive."
