Bengaluru, Dec 24 (NationPress) A tech professional, Balamurugan, who is accused of fatally shooting his wife in broad daylight, informed the police that a divorce notice issued by his wife instigated him to commit the act in the Magadi Road vicinity of Bengaluru.

The deceased, Bhuvaneshwari, aged 39, served as an assistant manager at Union Bank of India and was shot by her husband on Tuesday evening.

Post-incident, the suspect turned himself in at the Magadi Road police station and admitted to the crime, according to police statements released on Wednesday.

Balamurugan, 40, previously worked as a software engineer at Capgemini located in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

The victim was employed at the Basaveshwaranagar branch of Union Bank and lived in Rajajinagar with her two children.

Initial investigations uncovered that the suspect fired five shots at Bhuvaneshwari, with two bullets striking her head and two hitting her hand.

During questioning, Balamurugan revealed that the divorce notice from his wife provoked him to take her life.

He mentioned ongoing disagreements between them and expressed suspicion regarding her fidelity.

Balamurugan reportedly could not handle the thought of separation and was profoundly troubled by it.

Authorities are also probing how the suspect acquired the firearm and whether it was legally owned.

The couple, who married in 2011, had been living apart for over a year due to marital issues.

According to police reports, the accused believed his wife was involved in an extramarital relationship, leading to frequent conflicts.

Bhuvaneshwari had been pursuing legal separation, a situation Balamurugan found intolerable.

Approximately six months ago, the victim relocated from Whitefield with her children, and the suspect was unaware of their new location.

Police noted that he tracked her down four months ago and moved to Cholurpalya under the KP Agrahara jurisdiction.

About a week prior to the incident, Balamurugan received a legal divorce notice from his wife.

On Tuesday evening, between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM, the suspect allegedly waited for Bhuvaneshwari as she returned from work.

He reportedly shot her at close range with a pistol.

She suffered severe gunshot wounds and was taken to Shanbagh Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

After the incident, Balamurugan walked into the Magadi Road police station, confessed to the murder, and surrendered.

A case has been filed at the Magadi Road police station under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Investigations are ongoing.
