Patna, Jan 28 (NationPress) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has made grave accusations against the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav, alleging financial misconduct totaling ₹26.16 crores in the Road Construction Department during Yadav's time as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Road Construction in the Grand Alliance government.
Sinha stated that these irregularities are specifically related to projects under Path Pramandal Gaya, which involved the construction of three roads: Wajirganj-Tapovan Path (19.18 km), Jamua-Sevatar Path (17.5 km), and Bhinds-Chamandih Path (21.3 km).
He asserted that the construction company used local stone instead of the specified Pakur stone, known for its strength and quality, thus breaching project standards. Raja Construction was tasked with these roads, and due to complaints, all projects executed by this company will now undergo review. Over ₹26.16 crores were disbursed for these works,” he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that an investigation has unveiled these discrepancies, supported by local complaints regarding the use of inferior materials.
He claimed that not only were financial misconducts committed, but also that the responsible officials were protected, resulting in considerable financial loss to the department.
Sinha accused Raja Construction, which handled multiple road projects, of being central to the fraud.
“The company has connections with RJD MP Surendra Yadav,” he stated.
Irregularities were also highlighted in the Kanwaria Path that stretches from Sultanganj in Bhagalpur to Banka.
“Local resident complaints have revealed issues with the Kanwaria Path construction in Sultanganj. Action is already underway against the contractor in this instance,” he informed.
He pledged to blacklist contractors involved in fraudulent activities and announced plans for thorough investigations into both past and current project estimates within the Road Construction Department.
“A dedicated investigation team comprising engineers from IITs and NITs will be assembled to evaluate the design and execution of all departmental schemes, including roads and bridges,” he concluded.
