Hyderabad, Feb 14 (NationPress) The government of Telangana intends to provide incentives for investors interested in enhancing tourism in semi-urban and rural locations.

During a review meeting on tourism, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy encouraged the Tourism Department to formulate detailed plans.

He proposed the introduction of houseboats in the backwaters of Nagarjuna Sagar and envisioned transforming Telangana into a premier wedding destination.

The Chief Minister highlighted that tourism should not only boost the state's revenue but also provide employment opportunities for the youth in diverse regions.

He urged the Tourism Department to merge Telangana’s rich heritage with modern advancements to shape a promising future.

Additionally, he instructed the tourism department to collaborate with various departments such as Forests, Information Technology, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC), Health, and Sports while developing tourism policies to ensure cohesive implementation.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to prioritize adventure sports within the Tourism Department and directed that arrangements be made to support medical tourism from abroad. He assured an increase in the budget for the Tourism Department.

Despite having numerous attractions capable of attracting tourists, the Chief Minister noted past efforts were hindered by lack of innovation and insufficient promotion, leading to disappointing outcomes in the tourism sector.

He also pointed out the importance of temples and tiger sanctuaries in enhancing tourism and instructed officials to focus on these areas and implement necessary improvements.

Improving facilities and promoting various tourist destinations such as temples like Bhadrachalam, Saleshwaram, and Ramappa; waterfalls like Mallela Theertham and Bogatha; Buddhist stupas; and Jain temples was emphasized.

The Chief Minister also inquired about the status of the Bhongir Fort ropeway project. Officials reported delays in land acquisition, but with the process now completed, tenders will be issued promptly.

The CM instructed that tenders be called swiftly and that measures be taken to preserve the historical structures atop the fort.

The review meeting included Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Government Advisor (Infrastructure) Srinivasa Raju, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister V.
